March 5, 2006

Well, it's been a while since I have updated everyone on the goings-on of the Lees, but not for lack of trying. It's been one heck of a busy beginning to this year. So, my apologies on not having anything for the past two months. Here is the latest and greatest: Aida: 6 months old now! (almost 7 months on the 15th!) I just took her in for her 6-month check-up and she's doing great. She weighs 15lbs 14oz, and is almost 26" tall. The developmental specialist did some of her own tests, and Aida was at the top of the charts for personal-social skills, problem solving, fine motor and communication. When on her belly, she'll now push herself up off the floor by straightening her arms. She can bear her weight on her legs and has really good balance when standing. She sits up on her own (but can't get back to sitting if she falls over), she plays peek-a-boo with her burpcloth and is eating all sorts of veggies. She's all smiles 98% of the time and just a blessing to have. Liam: Still pottytraining. What's the saying? 3 steps forward, 2 steps back? So, we are still working on it. He has many days without accidents, but then there are days with accidents too. The good news is that he is now changing his own clothes if he has an accident. Dressing himself is mostly successful- only every once in a while does he get something backward (like his underwear or his pants) Lots of talking going on with this kid. He is attaching emotions to many of the things he does. He likes to say "Liam happy," but our favorite he is saying most recently goes like this: Brack:" Hey Liam, can you make me a sandwich?" Liam: "Poof- you're a sandwich." Brack: Playing on two indoor soccer teams this season- I hear the teams are almost the opposite of each other. Liam, Aida and I went to watch, and before Liam got totally engrossed in playing with another child, he was very impressed with Daddy kicking the ball. Brack has had some tough assignments at work lately. Not exactly difficult, but tough in the fact that people are not giving him the assignments until the day before they need it even though they have been working on the same assignment for 2 weeks without even letting Brack know. So, he had a few late nights (anywhere from 9pm to 3am). Brack's sister Kristina will be getting married on April 22nd and we're really excited about that! Liam and Aida will be a part of the wedding, so we'll be sure to get lots of photos of all. Brack is really looking forward to spring as we plan to go on a trip to Moab the first weekend in April. We'll combine some mountainboarding and finally hike to Druid Arch in the needles district (which is where we were headed when he proposed to me). Another trip that is planned will be a trek out to Southhaven Kansas for a mountainboard event the weekend of April 29th. Me: Busy with school. I went on an overnight field trip with 23 8th-grade students in February. We took them downtown to the capital building and learned all about the Colorado government and legislature. We left Sunday at 10am and got back Tuesday at 3pm. I was exhausted to say the least. Have two more evening field trips with students coming up. Sunday March 12- taking 14 or so to see The King and I at the Boulder Dinner Theatre, and on Tuesday, April 25th, taking 30 or so to see Othello at the theatre downtown. School is over the first week in June, so the light at the end of the tunnel is slightly visible. Yay! I am really enjoying being a parent to two great kids. I hope to find a hobby (an inexpensive one) this summer to try to do something just for me, but we'll see how much time I can find for that. Here are some recent photos!
